According to a study published in 2017, people most prone to becoming entrenched in unhealthy eating habits are people with busy lifestyles. The study concluded that the busier a person is, the more prone they are to falling victim to unhealthy dietary habits. Thankfully, there are a wide number of simple things that a busy person can do to ensure that their diet remains healthy.

Stay Hydrated

The go-to beverage of a busy person is typically coffee or tea over water. Water, however, it is a must-have dietary cornerstone of anyone with an exceptionally busy lifestyle, as the daily stress they’ll endure will force their bodies to use more water. Busy adults should consume at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day and avoid coffee as much as possible.

Eat Breakfast

It might sound like an old wives’ tale or a bit cliche, but dietary science has conclusively proven that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast such as free-range eggs, oatmeal, whole-wheat toast, avocado, or berries can power the busiest person through their day. Without breakfast, a person’s blood sugar and energy levels are certain to badly crash daily.

Walk a Lot

Walking is one of the best things a person can do to aid their digestive system, especially if they consume a large or a high-fat meal. Walking has been shown to increase blood flow to the vital organs within the digestive tract, stimulating them into working at an optimal rate. Walking also helps food move through the digestive system much more efficiently.

Light Lunches Are Better

Nothing slows a person down during a workday than eating a large lunch. Getting extremely full at lunch can leave a person feeling extremely tired, as the huge meal will stimulate neurological responses that will trigger the body to seek rest. When eating lunch it is best to still be a little hungry when a person leaves the table.

Regularize Meal Times

Several health studies have shown that the human body responds positively to regularizing meal times. One of the core benefits of doing this is that it helps the body stabilize blood sugar levels and hormone production levels. Just as the body responds well to a regular sleep pattern, it also greatly benefits from regularized meal times.
